Finally! Today during rounds, the doctors let us know they will go ahead and drain the fluid from Kurt's belly. That should allow him to eat and start to feel better. We are still waiting for the results of all of yesterday's tests and cultures....may not know that for a day or two.
We are very fortunate that starting today and for the next couple of days, the attending physician is Kurt's oncologist, Dr. Donehower. That should make things move a little quicker, as the doctors won't need to track Dr. D. down and get his sign off before doing anything. Dr. D will be able to check in on Kurt all day and be back in charge of his care. So we are pretty happy about that. Dr. D is coming back up later this afternoon to talk about next steps with us. Right now, the plan is to drain Kurt's belly later this morning.
Thanks for the prayers and humor ~ keep it coming, as I expect these next couple of days will be long ones.

This is the second time in my life I've posted a comment on a blog (both to this site)! I'm clearly gunning for the 1,000 points here. Over Thanksgiving, a friend of mine from Boston said that a guy who works at his law firm knows a guy that is such an ass, he had a bumper sticker on his car that said "I "heart" my penis". At some point, a very clever individual took a black marker and blotted out the word "my", so the bumper sticker then read "I "heart" penis". I guess the guy was getting honks and waves for several weeks before he realized why. I'm sure it was from a bunch of gay guys, and not the audience he was going for! :) Hope all goes well this morning!
Ha ha ha ha ha .... where does someone even get a bumper sticker like that? And what does the girl think when that guy rolls up for the first date?? What a tool. Good entry, DaNita!!
I am not hoping to get the 1000 points because I have been teaching for the past seven years either to non-English speaking Kindergarteners or to non-English speaking 7th graders. Not much is said that is clearly understandable or that makes much sense!
I just wanted to write and say that I am thinking and praying for both of you! You both must be the strongest people I know because in every post to your blog, behind the frustration and at times anger, is still energy and positive thinking. Kurt you are so strong physically and mentally--and Jen, he couldn't do this without you.
Stay strong and now that there are so many people out there for you who are helping you fight this and know that I am sending you all the positive energy that I have! :o) Good luck this morning!!!

Go check out the vids we made with the high speed camera. Always makes me laugh. Except the part about you leaving the slingshot out and *I* got blamed for it!

THANK YOU so much for the updates. From Montana to Seattle to Honolulu, this side of the family is chomping at the bit, what happenedwhatdidthedoctorssay

and the "tattle tale hotline" as Jay coined it in 1984, is smoking as we wait for GOOD news.
Remember the spies, ten evil reports, two good reports, and Joshua and Caleb's words, "We CAN go in and defeat this enemy."
If God is on our side, who can be against us?
