Overnight, Kurt had a pretty big re-accumulation of fluids in his stomach, so they are bringing in a more senior doctor to do the paracentesis in about a half-hour. Hopefully, he can drain both sides and give Kurt some relief, so he can try to eat and move around today.
I am headed over shortly to meet with the radiologist this morning, to get his read on Kurt's scans. Hopefully, between that info, the results of blood work, and other tests, we will start to get some sense of what is going on and what to do.
Meanwhile, enjoy Tiger Woods' futile attempts to maintain his dignity. Good tv!

I can't believe how fast that can re-accumulate in him. I wish you would get further along in your medical career, so I can get some answers!
Now I'm wondering if this is all diet related. Maybe his meals need to be more solid liquids with just an occasional liquid solid as a treat?

You're not kidding about the Tiger Woods thing. I'd love to see him come out and say "Yep, I was fooling around and the wifey put a 7 iron upside my heat. I messed up." Every guy in the world would nod, grunt, and that would pretty much be the end of it. When will people learn that lying and stonewalling does nothing to quiet down the talk? Kind of like Senator Craig and the bathroom thing. If he said "SO WHAT? I'M GAY! WHAT YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?" everyone would have shrugged and went about their lives instead of dragging it out for months.
In the words of a great philosopher, stupid is as stupid does.

BTW - If you've got iTunes and a laptop available, download a few episodes of "Top Gear" - it's a car show from BBC. I highly recommend the Botswana and Vietnam specials. Those have to be seen to be believed.

I just want all of you faithful blog followers to know how tough and brilliant kurt and jen are. jen is meeting with the radiologist and kurt is getting more plasma to prepare for the paracentesis. jack and i have been here less than 24 hours, and i'm amazed at the medical terms that just flow during conversations with the doctors and nurses. Even kurt, asking his nurse about the latest blood test results, can process the info thru his oxycodone induced fog. I can pronounce paracentesis now, tho i had to cheat and look at jen's post to spell it correctly! it is so good to finally be here with kurt and be able to do the 'mom' thing like get ice or G2 and move pillows around to get him more comfortable. It is hard for any parent to see your kid hurting like this, but he is strong and jennifer is his rock. We just need to feel like we're doing something to help, while trying not to annoy the kids too much! jen did laugh at jack's reaction to the mention of lady Gaga, "who? you mean zsa zsa gabor?" ...the generation gap is beginning to widen...~kim
vicki, i wonder, too, the same thing about the solid liquids. Jen has yogurt and oatmeal available, but kurt's not interested. He has been sipping ensure. those all qualify as liquid solids to me! :) the swelling is down in his legs, and kurt thinks it's moved to his abdomen, making him more uncomfortable. So, hopefully they'll get more fluid drained soon, and he'll feel better. Jack's offered to sneak in a cheeseburger for him, but kurt's not interested yet. We know he's not feeling well when he says no to a burger!
That Lady Gaga/Zsa Zsa Gabor comment put me away!
Jenn thank you for keeping us all posted! I have been checking the blog frequently for updated posts! All my love to you and Kurt! This is just another bump in the road to recovery! That's all! As for Tiger...How cool would it be if Kurt's fight against cancer got as much publicity as he is right now! Makes me sick!!!
