One step at a time

Well, I wish I had some news to report, but I don't have a lot of new information.  The doctors pulled off another liter of fluid, which is making it much easier for Kurt to eat and walk around. Not as much as we hoped for, but still progress.

My meeting today with Kurt's radiologist didn't shine much more light on what appears to be a pretty puzzling situation. Neither the oncologist or radiologist have been able to determine yet what is causing all the fluids and associated issues.  Ultimately, though, it doesn't matter right now. Figuring out what started all this wouldn't change the immediate plan of attack.  We will need to figure it out once Kurt is better and ready to go back into treatment, but for now, the focus is on getting him feeling better.

So, we will take it one hour and one day at a time. You all would be so proud of Kurt -- he is tough as nails and in really good spirits. He is concentrating on getting as many calories in as he can manage, and walking around a little to build up strength.  Our mantra right now is "baby steps." One step at a time, Kurt will be feeling better.

"Baby steps" as in What about Bob, with Richard Dreyfus and Bill Murray? One of my all time favorites, and of course Joe HATES it. Watch it if you haven't seen it, you will laugh, and a merry heart does good like a medicine.
