He's in!
Our insurance signed off on the clinical trial today, and Kurt will start chemo next Friday. I nearly split in half when Kurt told me it would be another WEEK, but evidently, it takes 5 days to order the chemo drugs and get everything set. I recall the chemo class nurse saying something similar -- everything is mixed fresh, ordered special, etc. It is a pretty precise operation.
So, we are going to spend the next week loading Kurt up on protein and immuno-boosters, to have him in the best physical shape possible to withstand the chemo. And Kurt is already very disciplined about spending a portion of every day quietly meditating in Scripture, so that he is spiritually and mentally fortified.
So, eight more days and then we can open the next front in this war. Keep the prayers going for Kurt's victory over this cancer!

My "support group" says physically, this will be very much like Gramma Ima's dialysis - - plan on sitting thru several hours of reading, or listening to books or music.you probably have those ipod thingys...or watching overhead TV or whatever they have in the room. Also, napping is good. And a lot of praying... But we are so glad it is approved and on the go... GIVE THANKS THAT THIS IS AVAILABLE .. We will all be praying that it doesn't get too rough... KEEP THE FAITH ....

My friends who've gone thru chemo keep telling me to get used to the waiting. Yesterday I emailed Kurt a esophageal cancer survivor story where the patient waited 5 weeks after diagnosis for treatment to begin. I hate learning patience! I know you're on the right track making Kurt's nutrition a priority and combined with his spiritual readiness, you are both ensuring he's ready to begin this battle!
