**SIGH**
The waiting is the worst. Flat out worst. We finally got through to Johns Hopkins today. What a process. You call up there, and they tell you someone will call you the next day. So you wait. And then you start stalker-calling them, hourly, and each time they tell you -- "you are next on the list. Someone should call you in an hour." The more rational part of my brain keeps telling me that this is a sign of a quality center in high demand, and that a day really isn't that long. But honestly....so exasperating.
Anyhow, Kurt is scheduled for a consultation/second opinion at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins (http://www.hopkinskimmelcancercenter.org/) on Sept. 23. That seems like 900 years from now. Kurt is so good -- he keeps telling me that this is just God's way of teaching us patience. I suppose....
Friday we go in to see a chemo nurse at GW Hospital (the place where Kurt has had all his tests so far) to understand more about the regimen that has been recommended -- side effects, etc. So that is some small progress. And, we are so fortunate to have an absolutely wonderful GI doctor who has remained involved with Kurt's treatment, even though she isn't an oncologist. We met with her today and she has been a complete ally in helping us get the best treatment possible.
Other than the endless waiting, things here are good. We are in reasonably good spirits, and Kurt is planning on going back to work tomorrow. As always, thanks to all of you who are sending such kind emails and thoughts our way. I know I am falling way behind on responding to emails, but each one means so much to us. Keep the faith!!

He Has a Plan
Much of the beauty we find in nature
Appears as the result of dramatic changes

Just had lunch w/ Kyla and Grandma and Eliz and Alderic. Ask Kyla about talking into Jack's reflective camera mirror in his pickup! Remember "a merry heart does good like a medicine!"
Patience may be a virtue... but it is not a family trait. (ask you little sister . . she backed the doctor into a room, closed the door and refused to let her out until she agreed to o.k. grandpa's back surgery - or give us the reason why not - he got the surgery) . . so be firm.. be nice .. but PUSH with all your might.. do what you need to do to get answers and care immediately. We are all pushing with you.

Oh and yes those new trucks these days and the reflective mirror with a built in speaker is awesome
