While we wait (and wait...and wait....), I have come across some resources that have really been fantastic -- uplifting, fun, and sometimes, a little inappropriate :) I thought I would share them with you, in case you want to see what we are looking at, or in case you know someone who needs them:
Book
- Anticancer - A New Way of Life, Dr. David Servan-Schreiber
Websites:
It is interesting to me to read some of these young-adult sites to see how little focus is paid to younger people with cancer. I am already beyond frustrated to see the complete lack of resources devoted to nutrition and cancer treatment -- everything is focused on preventing cancer; very little attention is given to what you can do from a diet perspective to fight cancer or what you need to not eat to avoid interactions with the chemo drugs. There are anecdotes -- lots of them -- but not much science. I imagine things like diet and exercise are of particular interest to young adults -- with so much of our lives ahead of us, I know Kurt and I are willing to make any change necessary to win this war. I would guess that we aren't alone in that belief.
Cancer behaves so differently that it would only seem logical to study it in young bodies and older bodies. But I guess that doesn't happen much. I feel a cause coming on.....

Jenn, you are starting to sound like Aunt Erna.. (your mother will throw something at me for saying that) However, she really was a firm believer that even tho she had breast cancer and a radical mastectomy in the early 60's, she would tell you in no uncertain terms that the reason she survived and lived as long as she did was because of the foods and vitamins she used. She did a lot or research (before computers) on what foods and vitamins were best. So, keep reading and researching and trying the things that help make you both feel better and get stronger. Keep the faith. With much love, Grannie Channie & Grandpa Vic...
I may not be able to throw something from Bend to Vegas, but I can't let this go. Your commenting privileges have been suspended for 2 weeks. If you don't have something nice to say . . .
I think “Grannie Channie” should have to spend those two weeks of suspension with candles in her ears. Not only will it improve her hearing – maybe it will remove bad thoughts!
We are here for Kurt and this is why I founded 'I'm Too Young For This' - it's about time our generation get's it's voice heard for once. Stupid Cancer. Survivors Rule!
