It has been two weeks since Kurt's last treatment -- what a nice break. We're back at Hopkins today for a long treatment day. We haven't started yet, but should be dripping soon (I hope).
Generally, things are pretty good on our end. Kurt is feeling good -- his rash is bugging him a little, and he's battling the numbness in his fingers and toes, but otherwise, nothing major. He is wisecracking about swine flu ... there are all sorts of warning signs and precautions around here. Lots of mask wearing.
No news on other treatment options yet. We continue to research and push to get second opinions at MD Anderson. We have had some really incredible friends step up and help us push on this, which is so helpful. Hopefully, we will have some forward progress soon. We are also set to attend a liver symposium in Chicago in a couple of weeks, to meet the top docs working on primary and metastatic liver cancer. I'm excited to explore these new options and help Kurt march down the path to victory over cancer!!

Kurt & Jen, I am standing with you for the complete cure. One thing I can do is pray for WISDOM for both you and the doctors. Kurt, hang onto that joyful spirit. That's so good. As you may know, I've been through the heat and the fire, and am still optimistic, joyful & happy. It doesn't come automatically, but it's a CHOICE. Choose to be happy, as you choose LIFE. Nehemiah 8:10 says that "the JOY of the LORD is your strength." Your good attitude comes from above. Keep it up. Jen, thanks for being such a good support for that man of yours. Thanks, too, for these updates. They really help me to be in touch and to know how to pray for you. Read Psalm 36. We have a wonderful GOD. God BLess You today. Loving you still, & praying for you, without ceasing!

Don't even get me started on the "swine flu". How is this strain of influenza a pandemic because 7 people have died in the last month when the seasonal flu kills about 100 Americans/day??!! Glad to hear everythings going well and treatments are going again. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help! Love you guys.
Keep the faith! As my little student says, "please heal him down here on earth, not just in heaven!"
Hi! Just thought I'd check in and see if the drip is about finished and tell you to have a great weekend. Do they still close one side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge the first weekend in May to let people walk across it? I was thinking yesterday about that time we sailed under the bridge and just how long it actually is! What a treasure! Well, whatever you do this weekend, I hope you have a good time. Love you both!
Kurt & Jennifer,
Three Owen girls from Montana want you to know that we are thinking of you & praying for you. As your Mom & sister are running their race in Spokane, we reflect upon the "race" the two of you are participating in. We are impressed with the preparation, perseverance and strength that you are incorporating into your daily
journey. We're cheering from the sidelines and want you to know that we love you very much.
Hebrews 12:1-2 "...let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross..."
Much love,
Chris, Gigi, & Kendra
