Jen and I were on the best road trip ever!! Here's the story.

Jen had signed up for the Montana Bar review course in Missoula for the months of June and July. We knew that she needed a car out there over the summer, so we had decided to drive out. The original plan was to go to the Indy 500 over Memorial weekend, spend some time taking our time through the midwest, spend a couple days on the farm, then get Jen moved into her apartment.

We did the Indy 500 (which was way better in person than on TV!) and headed for St. Louis. Sunday night in St. Louis we ended up in some cool little neighborhood sitting on a sidewalk table at a Bar Louie drinking martinis and having a good time.

Then a dude and his parrot walked into the bar.

No joke. A dude and his parrot walked into the bar.

They sat down right next to us, and he proceeded to feed his parrot tater tots.

At this point, a few martinis and a parrot into the night, all bets were off. We got to talking and realized that neither one of us had seen the Grand Canyon. Jen hadn't ever seen the Pacific Ocean either. We looked at the calendar, realized that we had seven days until we had to be anywhere, and the plan started coming together. We went to a game at Busch stadium on Tuesday, toured the Budweiser HQ, went up in the Gateway Arch, and generally touristed it up in St. Louis on that Monday.

Wednesday, we set out on Route 66 headed for the coast! We spent that night in Amarillo, Thursday night outside the Grand Canyon, Friday night in Monterrey, Saturday night in Bend, and finally made it into Missoula late Sunday night. It was a fantastic road trip! We stopped for lunch in Barstow, CA, and were sitting next to a grandma and grandpa having a Bud with their McDonalds lunch. Grandpa decided it was time to go, and Grandma pounded her Bud with an abandon that would have made any of my Delt brothers proud! Those were just some of the random things that we saw along the way.

We took a ton of pictures along the way, and have them up on our Facebook page. Here are the links to the albums:

Great story, Kurt! Robin and I were at a fund-raiser for the animal shelter when you guys came through. I wish you could've seen some of the looks we got when we told our friends we had to leave because you and Jen were driving from DC to Montana and were stopping here overnight!

Mostly I loved when you texted us from a corner in Winslow, AZ! Classic.
