Incubatin'

Kurt is working on some kind of nasty cold or flu or possibly allergies today. He was home sick yesterday, and his white blood cell counts are through the roof. The nurses are still going to let him get treatment today, because it is just an erbitux day and that doesn't hit his immune system like the longer days do. This is probably my fault, since I was sick a few weeks ago, or maybe it is just the advent of cherry blossoms and Kurt's allergies. Hard to say. He's going to get a round of antibiotics, just to be safe, and maybe an x-ray.

This is terrible, but part of me is secretly hopeful that this infection, whatever it is, might actually help a little. If we can weaken up some cancer cells with the chemo, his immune system is on overdrive....maybe it can kill off a few extra tumors! Hope springs eternal, you know?

In other news, my NCAA brackets are actually holding up reasonably well (Go Terps!) and I have my fantasy baseball draft tonight. I'm very busy. All of this means that the sports doldrums that is February and early March is far behind us ....I can practically smell the fresh-cut grass at Camden Yards! Kurt will be sailing soon -- the hospital is giving him a couple of breaks from treatment for some regattas in April, which is wonderful. I believe that living life and being joyful will just crowd cancer right out, giving it no room to grow. Our lives will go on.

We're waiting for the nurses to decide if a x-ray or something else is needed, so he hasn't started the drip yet. As usual, we wait....

Jen, great blog this morning! It's springtime and that just gives us a fresh feeling. It does seem to renew hope and give us an overall sense of brightness. Such a contrast to the drudgery of winter!

Sorry to hear that Kurt's got that flu bug. But I'm glad they can go forward with his treatment. What is the xray for?

The x-ray would be related to chest congestion, but they decided he doesn't need one. So that's a little good news. But, we STILL haven't started treatment for today. Boooo...
