Status quo

So we got the CT scan results back, and they showed that everything is pretty much unchanged from 6 weeks ago. There were a couple lymph nodes that showed a little shrinkage, but the liver tumors are all still there and the same size. It's a bit of a disappointment to hear that, especially since I've been feeling so good this cycle. We were really hoping that we'd see smaller tumors this scan, but at least it's not spreading and growing.

We're both pretty annoyed that we didn't get to meet with our oncologist today. Apparently CT scan results weren't important enough to get us put on his calendar... It's frustrating that we're still in this phase where we don't know what the endgame is or how long to expect that we'll stick with the weekly treatments. The clinical trial nurse tried to tell us that this is good news, but we're finding it difficult to see how. We want this crap gone, not sticking around at the same size.

So the news we have is basically that we're on for another 6 weeks of the clinical trial, get another scan, and reassess. We're frustrated at the lack of an overall plan to beat this, but trying to stay positive and upbeat.

Big thanks to everybody who's still sending us up all the awesome prayers and well wishes. They mean a lot to us right now!

Also, to the rest of the larger Owen clan, our thoughts and prayers are with you as Dick has gone home. We know he's in an awesome place right now! I'll always remember him smiling and waving from his big living room window as I drove the truck past his house during harvest. We will always miss him!

Oh, Kurt that is GOOD NEWS! Especially when we consider the attack the enemy has launched against you. Praise God, now we continue to stand.
"And having done all to stand, stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth..." read Eph 6:10 - 20

Very good encouraging words in that passage when you are in the midst of battle.

Love you both!

Kurt & Jen,It goes without saying that we all wanted the scan to show much, much smaller tumors. However, I think it's great news that nothing has spread and there are no new tumors. You both know you're going to beat this. It may not happen exactly as you (we) want it to, but it will happen. So trust God, do your part and don't ease up on that doctor!
Love you

Hey Kurt, Jen,

Hang tough....you're still fighting the good fight...and winning! Remember to keep laughing (you two keep me there!)...pick up Pineapple Express or an SNL boxed set for some good therapy and c (can't dignify it with it's formal name) cell killing laughter.

You're still winning!!!!!!!

Stay strong brother. It's a game of inches, and it's not a sprint (that enough sports metaphors for you?). Your faith and your determination are as important as anything, and we're all praying right along with you.
